THE ROOTIST
Collborate with KIM LOWA artist at FOCUS
Inspired by our Rootbiomic Ferment™, crafted to enhance biological connections and sustainability, Alienated fuses nature with modern biotech. Almost all materials, once discarded due to low quality, were transformed by Lowa using minimal electricity and recyclable aluminum bottles provided by The Rootist. This handcrafted tapestry vividly captures the bubbling effect of fermentation, showcasing Lowa’s artistic ingenuity. Through shared values, this piece highlights the harmony of artistry, sustainability, and holistic wellness.
EME / GOLDEN OUR COLLEVITVE
In HBO's 2021 original documentary, "Black Art: In the Absence of Light", a study of African American artists' contributions to today's contemporary art world, artist, Theaster Gates, poses a powerful and important question: "Do we have the capacity to be great makers in the absence of light?" We are hosting an intimate gathering where we will convene to dis- cuss the art equity gap and explore what it means for Black creatives, past and present, to create in the absence of light.

COLABORATIVE OPPORTUNITIES
| Volunteer program
The collaboration between 12 student volunteers from prestigious institutions like FIT, SVA, Parsons, and NYU and the FOCUS Art Fair team creates a mutually beneficial partnership. Students gain hands-on experience in event coordination, build their portfolios, and network with industry professionals, all while drawing creative inspiration from the dynamic art fair environment. For FOCUS, the partnership brings fresh perspectives, additional manpower, and stronger community engagement while fostering long-term relationships with emerging talent. This synergy enriches the fair and empowers the next generation of creatives.
